Alankrita Shrivastava is an award-winning Indian director, screenwriter, and film producer who has distinguished herself through her unique storytelling and portrayal of female characters in today’s India. She has gained widespread fame for her treatment of issues ranging from gender, identity, sexuality, freedom, relationships, and society, and has become one of the most prominent directors working in Bollywood cinema. Shrivastava started her career as an assistant director working with director Prakash Jha on his films like Gangaajal, Apaharan, Loknayak, and Raajneeti. She went on to make her debut as a director with Turning 30!!! (2011). She was internationally acclaimed with her second movie Lipstick Under My Burkha (2016) that not only got her many accolades but also faced censorship in her home country.
