Biography:

Aijaz Khan is an Indian film director, screenwriter, and producer well-known for his contributions to Bollywood and digital entertainment industry. Born into a family with a strong background in the Indian film industry, with his father being a filmmaker, his uncles being the famed cinematographers Nariman Irani and Anwar Siraj, and his grandaunt being an acclaimed Urdu writer Ismat Chughtai—he began his career directing TV commercials before venturing into feature films.

His debut film as a director came with The White Elephant (2009), which had its world premiere at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), and after that, he went on to direct Baankey Ki Crazy Baraat (2015). He garnered huge praise with the film Hamid (2018), a tragic drama about Kashmir that won him two National Film Awards and established him as one of the most successful filmmakers in the country.

Apart from making a huge impact on Hindi cinema, he also has an impressive record of contributions to the OTT space with the critically acclaimed web series Out of Love (2021) and Duranga (2022), where he has directed episodes of both relationship drama and psychological thriller. His storytelling is defined by its profound emotional intensity, humanist view, and realistic depiction of complicated social and political issues. Besides his contributions to Hindi cinema, he has explored diverse stories with such movies as the period romance of Dvija in Malayalam and the feature film Tehrir from Kashmir.
