The upcoming ‘Ramayana’ project, which will be directed by Nitesh Tiwari of ‘Dangal’ and ‘Chichchore‘ fame, has generated a lot of anticipation in industry. While Bollywood star Ranbir Kapoor is slated to play the great Lord Ram, and specifics about the rest of the cast are unknown.
Sai Pallavi is rumoured to play Sita, but she hasn’t confirmed it publicly. The film’s pre-production is extensive due to its three-part story, and scheduling conflicts with actors are causing delays. The team had planned to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the opening, but with election restrictions, that’s no longer possible.
Yash‘s involvement is uncertain as he’s busy with ‘Toxic‘. Additionally, Vijay Sethupathi has left the project, and Sunny Deol hasn’t confirmed his participation. Discussions are ongoing with Rakul Preet Singh for the role of Surpanaka, and Naveen Polishetty‘s involvement is also uncertain.
Despite ambitions for a grand production, delays abound, exacerbated by Ranbir Kapoor’s busy schedule post-‘Animal‘ with ‘Brahmastra 2’, ‘Animal Park’, and another project. Considering these challenges, it may be a while before ‘Ramayana’ hits the screens.
