Sivakarthikeyan and Sai Pallavi’s blockbuster film “Amaran” got a new censor certificate and a modified scene before its OTT release on Netflix on December 5, 2024.
The makers edited a scene where a phone number flashed during a romantic moment, which led to unexpected trouble.
A third-year engineering student, Vaageesan, claimed the number shown in the movie was his, and fans mistook it for Sai Pallavi’s contact, flooding him with calls.
Disturbed by this, he filed a petition in the Madras High Court, seeking Rs. 1.1 crore in damages for the mental stress and disruption to his studies.
In response, Raajkamal Films International, the producers of Amaran, informed the court that they had blurred the number and obtained a new censor certificate.
The court sympathized with Vaageesan and advised him to approach the civil court for further remedies. Despite the issue, the war drama, which earned over Rs. 300 crore at the box office, is now streaming on Netflix.
