Tollywood actor Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule was released on December 5 and has been breaking records ever since. Directed by Sukumar, the film is a sequel to the 2021 superhit Pushpa: The Rise. The first installment was also a massive box office success, earning Allu Arjun a National Award for Best Actor and grossing Rs 326.6 crore worldwide.
As anticipated, the sequel has received an overwhelming public response, registering staggering numbers at the box office. Setting a new benchmark, Pushpa 2: The Rule achieved a historic opening by collecting Rs 72 crore nett in Hindi on Day 1, becoming the highest Hindi opener ever. Previously, this title was held by Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan, which earned Rs 65.5 crore.

It made ₹55–57 crore on its first day of release in the domestic market, making it the biggest Bollywood movie opener ever. It went on to collect ₹106 crore worldwide. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Animal earned ₹54.75 crore on its release day. The Hindi-dubbed version of the Kannada movie earned ₹53.95 crore in the northern belt. Released across 4,500 screens on its opening day, KGF 2 collected ₹134.5 crore globally on its premiere day. Meanwhile, its lifetime collection stood between ₹1,200 crore and ₹1,250 crore. KGF 2 starred Yash, Srinidhi Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, and Raveena Tandon in lead roles.
Made on a budget of ₹100 crore, the Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor starrer horror-comedy Stree 2 made a lifetime collection of ₹605.8 crore. The film’s worldwide gross stood at ₹858.4 crore. On its opening day, Stree 2 earned between ₹51.8 crore and ₹54 crore.
The 2019 spy thriller starring Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff, War, made ₹475.62 crore nett worldwide, making it the highest-grossing Indian film of that year. On the day of its release, War collected ₹53.35 crore. The film was directed by Siddharth Anand and produced under the Yash Raj banner.
