Yesteryear actress Annapurna was never shy of stating the truth as it is. She was never afraid of calling a spade a spade. She has now hit out at the prevelant norms of T’town saying that since actors these days only want glamourous moms, the roles in her kitty have been diminishing. She recently said in an interview, “When they play young on screen, naturally they’d prefer young and glamourous mothers. People like me would suit the granny roles maybe. Even for granny roles, they’d want someone who’re seen in TV commercials,”.
Annapurna doesn’t squarely hold anyone responsible for it but says, “It’s the trend in the society. Cinema follows the society. These days mothers are quite modern and glamourous. So audience expect the same from films as well.” That is quite sad to know, hopefully with changing times people who are good actors get the kind of recognition they deserve.
