Exclusive Telugu content providing platform Aha has dubbed Tamil film, Writer in Telugu with the same title. Starring Samuthirakani in the lead role, the movie is premiered on the streaming channel today. Let’s see how it is.
Story: After witnessing the power-centred system in police department, a jaded cop Ranga Raju( Samuthirakani) decides to establish an union with the help of his colleagues. This won’t go well with his station CI in a remote place and he will be transferred to another place just two months before his retirement. At the new place, Ranga Raju will be asked to look after a young guy Deva( Hari Krishnan) who will be cornered by the higher grade cops. Who is Deva? Why will the cops corner him? How will Deva’s case takes new turns? To know that, you have to watch the film.
Performances: Lead actor Samuthirakani perfectly fitted in the role of a station writer cum head constable. His screen presence and settled performance brings depth to the proceedings.
Young actor Hari Krishnan did his part quite effectively. Other actors such as Dileepan, GM Sundar who did cop roles are apt in their roles and gave convincing performance. The actress who played Samuthirakani’a wife role is decent in her role as a typical housewife.
Technicalities: Music by Govind Vasantha adds authentic texture to this crime drama. His background score keeps the audience hooked to the narrative.
The cinematography work by Pratheep Kaliraja is apt for the film’s genre. His framing elevates the mood of the film nicely.
Art work by Raja A is superb as he designed the entire setup in a proper manner. Manigandan Sivakumar’s editing work registers well. Production values by Pa Ranjith’s Neelam Productions are good.
Analysis: Franklin Jacob directs Writer. The young filmmaker’s idea of making a crime drama based on the society inequalities in the society is good. His core concept related to how the power plays a key role and manages the police department has been exposed nicely by the director.
To summerize, Writer is a realistic crime drama that revolves around the power politics in the police department. Samuthirakani’s acting and the presentation makes Writer a must watch film on Aha!
