Suriya‘s highly anticipated mythological film “Karna”, which was meant to mark his Bollywood debut, is reportedly shelved.
The film, directed by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and planned as a massive Rs. 600 crore project in two parts, was set to feature Suriya as Karna and Janhvi Kapoor as Draupadi in her Tamil debut.
However, recent reports suggest that the project faced hurdles due to its high budget, especially after Suriya’s recent release, “Kanguva“, received mixed reviews.
Despite impressive VFX and Suriya’s strong performance, “Kanguva” struggled at the box office since its release on November 14, 2024, with criticism aimed at its story and lack of emotional depth.
These challenges are believed to have influenced the decision to pause or shelve “Karna”.
Suriya’s Bollywood Ambitions Delayed
Due to financial losses of the producer and the underperformance of #Kanguva, #Suriya‘s much-anticipated Bollywood project #Karna has been shelved.
