Suresh Babu talked to several media outlets after the news about Indian Government giving permission to reopen theaters as surfaced in the news. In all the interviews, he dismissed the idea of reopening theatres. He said, “Yes, we are incurring huge losses. But everything cannot be seen from business perspective. Our priority should be to save lives of people at this moment as the virus spread is still at its peak in the country.”
He later opined that Indian Government shouldn’t even consider opening theatres right now. He expressed concern about people sitting in theaters for hours and remarked that even if one contracts the virus then the entire theater will be shut down or people will fear to come to theatres for a considerable period of time. He finally stated that he is not ready to open the theatres under his company lease and he would advocate the same to his fellow exhibitors and producers. He wished that the normalcy would restore quickly in the country.
