Krishna Vamsi, the creative tough task master of a director of Telugu Cinema, has been struggling for quite a few years with his story selection to make a movie and also directorial skills in engaging an audience. After, Chandamama he could not produce one film that promised his comeback but he quipped that Nakshatram will be a movie that he made because he had a story not because he wanted to direct someone.

The director did confess that earlier in few cases he did make a movie with certain actors so that he can make a hit movie with them as his leads. As he realised that never works. He said for Nakshatram he needed few actors and in the search of those actors he found Sandeep Kishan in a short film and then watched his Venkatadri Express. He said he literally tortured him for the movie. Then, he talked about his leading ladies, he said he chose Pragya Jaiswal little skeptically but after meeting her and looking at her performance in the film, he liked her. He said initially Sai Dharam Tej was approached for a 20 minute cameo but they increased it to 40 minutes as the story demanded it.

He said the movie is about religion and politics around it. He remembered that Khadgam, his best film, did talk about the subject but it was more about anger towards one religion in general public but this time, he wants to talk about it in even wider and bolder tone. While casting, the director wanted someone from middle class background and Regina Cassandra looked apt for the role. He said, “She looks like Ramya in her early days and I hope she reaches the same heights.” He concluded by saying that every filmmaker needs to have integrity and he is glad that he still has it intact. Nakshatram will release in last week of May or first week of June as per the sources close to the team.
