Newton’s third law of motion says that every action has an equal and opposite reaction, which holds very true for general life as well. No matter what we do, there’s always a reactive effect to it, which we often refer to as Karma, a concept that has been explained to perfection by Lord Krishna, in the Bhagavadgita.
Likewise, the coronavirus pandemic has affected the world of cinema, across the globe. Every film industry in the world is affected in different ways due to the pandemic, and Tollywood too is about to face its own share of pros and cons due to the pandemic. The Telugu film industry has been one to primarily rely on theatrical releases, and the pandemic has pushed the industry into an unknown territory, where a number of films are awaiting their theatrical releases.
On the other hand, the pandemic has also increased Tollywood’s focus on OTT and web-based content, with several filmmakers, even opting for a direct OTT release to ease their financial burdens. At a point in time, OTT platforms and theatres will have to coexist in the future, but when that future will come – where the fear of the pandemic decreases, is a question no one knows the answer to. For now, the pros and cons of the coronavirus pandemic on Tollywood are still manifesting themselves, with more to go.
