Opinion: Not only Films even Telugu fan Wars Gaining Pan-India Attention

For the past few years, Telugu cinema is witnessing pan-India appreciation. Post the release of the Baahubali series, Indian filmmakers are looking at Tollywood as the key factor in the entertainment sector.

While directors like SS Rajamouli and Sukumar are taking our name to the global audience, following the footsteps even Kannada and Tamil filmmakers such as Prashanth Neel and Lokesh Kanagaraj are evolving as entertainers with films like KGF, Vikram among others.

When the filmmakers from the South are busy making pan-India films to conquer the world cinema, fans of respective heroes in each industry down the South are still degrading each other on social media.

Recently, during the Sankranthi festival season, we witnessed a caste-based fan war between Tollywood senior heroes Chiranjeevi and Balakrishna during the release of Veera Simha Reddy and Waltair Veerayya. Now, the current trending thing is the online fan war between Mahesh Babu and Prabhas fans.

Tags like #NeverMessWithMBFans with sub hashtags #Prabhas and #MaheshBabu are trending on Twitter for the past twenty-four hours and are grabbing the attention of North belt netizens as well. While global cinema is looking at the Indian Tollywood industry as a land of creative filmmakers, the silly catfights between our fans are definitely not a good sign of development.
