Vakkantham Vamsi started out as an anchor and then became an actor. He then became a writer and now, with Naa Peru Surya, he became a director. The movie starring Allu Arjun, Anu Emmanuel, Arjun Sarja, Sharath Kumar released on 4th May. The movie received mixed talk and the makers are hopeful that family audience will lap it up. Vamsi talked media about the movie, he said, “This movis is my dream come true. I have been waiting to debut as a director from past 5 years and finally it happened. I got a chance to not deviate from the story, I wanted to tell and I feel that is luck.”

About a writer becoming director, he said, “A writer might come up with simple elements in the character of a person. Those things have to be caught upon by director and they should take it forward. This is a huge process. But if a writer becomes a director, as per me, he will be more honest to the written word and his idea. We can call, Naa Peru Surya, a writer’s movie. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have to direct it well. I tried what I know. Now, I want to hear from audience more about my work.”

He said that his friends Sukumar, Surrender Reddy saw the film and appreciated him. The special one for him is the praise he received from Trivikram Srinivas. He said, ” I am happy that they all liked my work and also, Army people said that it is their own movie. I am pleased about it.” He clarified about differences with NTR too. He said, “I and NTR sat on a story and he wanted few changes. We both discussed further and further, but there was something missing. So, we thought we will get back to it once we can sit and come to right consensus. We may do it in future.” He concluded by saying NPS is slowly picking up and he is enjoying every bit of it.
