The Telugu Film Industry faced a major shock today as the Employees Federation suddenly announced a 30% wage hike and called for a strike, halting multiple film shoots. In response, leading producers gathered at the Film Chamber in Hyderabad to find a solution.
The Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce later issued an official statement, saying that workers are no longer required to be registered with the Federation to work in Telugu films. Skilled workers can now operate independently, without being union members.
The Chamber noted that Telugu cinema already pays the highest wages compared to other industries and that the strike notice was issued without proper discussion.
This unexpected move has left producers deeply disturbed, especially given the industry’s current financial challenges.
The Chamber’s decision comes as a strong response to the Federation, which is now facing criticism for its sudden action and lack of communication.
