Anurag Kashyap describes how Nana Patekar declined to collaborate with Leonardo DiCaprio on a project since he was playing a terrorist in an interview.
Known for his spectacular performances in Bollywood, Nana Patekar was reportedly given a role in a Hollywood film opposite Oscar winner Leonardo De Caprio. Nana Patekar declined to go to Hollywood, whereas any other actor would have accepted the role in the west.
Numerous Indian actors have moved from the Hindi cinema business to the West throughout the years. Additionally, a lot of people are still waiting to hear from Hollywood. The actor turned down the part because he didn’t want to portray a terrorist in Ridley Scott’s Body of Lies, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio, according to director Anurag Kashyap.
Anurag Kashyap expressed his desire to collaborate with Nana Patekar. Although he was unable to do so with Nana, he once secured him a part in The Pool, a foreign film that went on to win a prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
Anurag subsequently says that Hollywood director Ridley Scott gave the film a favourable review and chose to cast Nana Patekar in his then-upcoming movie Body of Lies, which also starred Leonardo DiCaprio, Russell Crowe, and Mark Strong. Ridley Scott ka mail aaya, he exclaims. Body of Lies ke liye, unko Nana Patekar chahiye. Role of Mark Strong in English. Nana Patekar’s paas is the main waapas here. Mark is Ridley Scott’s character, and that is what we will do. Baat ki or bole yeh terrorist ka role hai main nahin karoonga aur mana kar diya, unhonein kahaa kya hai
Anurag described how The Pool, Nana’s previous Hollywood film, was a low-budget production during the interview. Despite being aware that he wouldn’t be paid much because the movie had a little budget, Nana Patekar still went to the set to shoot.
Anurag’s recollection of the encounter makes it very clear that Nana Patekar would accept a small part in a low-budget Hollywood production but would never take on the role of a “terrorist.” He is one of the most adored performers in the Indian cinema industry as a result of this.
