“Kalki 2898 AD” is poised to be a pioneering pan-Indian film from Tollywood, with the greatest budget in Indian movie history. The film will be released in a multi-part series, with a spectacular cast that includes Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Disha Patani, Dulquer Salmaan, and other celebrities in key cameo roles.
The film’s plot is heavily influenced by Hindu epics, particularly the legend of Kalki, Lord Vishnu’s foretold tenth avatar who will appear at the end of the Kali Yuga to defeat evil. The tale is said to interweave themes from the Mahabharata era, spanning centuries and culminating in the year 2898 AD, thus the title “Kalki 2898 AD.”
Although not confirmed, speculation suggests Prabhas will play the titular role of Kalki, Vishnu’s avatar. The big production is expected to make ripples at the Indian box office, with full-fledged advertising operations beginning in March and a trailer planned to be released in early April. Marking its calendar for May 9th, the film hopes to capture audiences with its grandeur and epic.
