Tamil author Su Venkatesan’s historical novel Veera Yuga Nayagan Velpari, published in 2019, will soon be adapted into a film by director Shankar.
Shankar called the project his dream and mentioned that he would take his time to fully explore the story. He also revealed that the film will be made in three parts.
Shankar, who is awaiting the release of his film Game Changer, confirmed that after Indian 3, his next project will be the adaptation of Velpari. He clarified during a promotional event for Game Changer that his next film would not be the Anniyan remake with Ranveer Singh, as previously announced.
Shankar shared that the script for Velpari is already complete, but the project will require a large budget. He added that they still need to discuss the details and plan the project further.
He also expressed his frustration with the unauthorized use of content from the book, claiming that a recent film had copied scenes from it.
Regarding Indian 3, after the failure of Indian 2, fans had concerns about its status. However, Shankar assured fans that he was ready to resume work on Indian 3 once Game Changer is completed. He said that only a few portions of the film are left to shoot.
