The Baahubali franchise changed Indian cinema forever, when it was released in 2015 and 2017. The impact created by the franchise is still very much present in the Indian film industry. The films even spawned a book trilogy, the story of which is set before Baahubali: The Beginning. Streaming giant Netflix is currently developing a series set before Baahubali: The Beginning, and the series has gone through several changes so far.
Praveen Sattaru and Deva Katta were previously on board for the webseries, and the shooting was also nearly complete, but Netflix scrapped it, as it was not satisfied with the end result. The team behind the series was then completely changed, with Wamiqa Gabbi all set to play the younger version of Sivagami – portrayed by Ramya Krishna in the original – in the webseries.
According to the latest reports, Tamil Lady Superstar Nayanthara is all set to be a part of the webseries, in which she is going to play an important role. If this turns out to be true, then this will mark her digital debut. Further details about the series, and official confirmation about the entire cast and crew is yet to be announced.
