Recently, actress Ila Arun spoke candidly about her time filming Haddi and commended Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s commitment.
Actress Ila Arun, who is now preparing for the premiere of her streaming movie “Haddi,” revealed that some of the sequences from the movie were extremely difficult to shoot because they took place in hot conditions.
The scenes were challenging to film, especially for Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the movie’s lead actor, who had to shoot the scene while wearing numerous layers of makeup and a wig.
Nawazuddin plays a transgender character in the movie who, truthfully, is quite close to Ila Arun’s portrayal of Revati Maa, Hijra Gharana’s mother.
The actress remarked of the difficulties encountered during the production, “Some situations were more like nightmares. It was a nightmare to work in those demanding conditions while wearing such thick makeup. Hats off to Nawaz as well, who used to spend 6 hours getting ready—wig, makeup, and all—and yet managed to appear immaculate. The director chose a real location that was not outfitted, thus the shoot took place there in 45-46 degree heat without air conditioning.
Ila Arun also discussed her experience working with the first-time director Akshat Ajay Sharma and how challenging it was to film in actual locations. She said: “Considering ‘Haddi’ is his debut movie, the way he maintained his composure in sweltering temperatures that reached 45-46 degrees is indeed commendable. He was up against difficulties on all sides, from the oppressive heat of the weather to other things. The actors were all in pain on an equal basis. Because there was no AC, everyone became irate. Akshat, however, handled it extremely coolly. The first accomplishment of a director is their capacity to put up with anything in the sake of producing quality work.
Anurag Kashyap also appears in the movie, which will be released on 7th September on ZEE5
