Actor Vijay Antony, who was once surprised when Mirnalini Ravi used Gen-Z terms like ‘situationships’ and ‘benching’ during Romeo/Love Guru promotions, is now producing a film targeted at the Gen-Z audience titled Pookie.
However, after facing criticism, the makers decided to rename it Bookie in Telugu, while keeping the original title Pookie for Tamil.
The bilingual film had its pooja ceremony in Hyderabad, attended by Satya Dev, Lakshmi Manchu, and others.
The film is said to be a romantic comedy starring Ajay Dhishan in the lead role, while debut actress Dhanusha plays the female lead. Actor Sunil has also been cast in a key role.
Produced by VAF Corporation, the project has Vijay Antony himself composing the music. The supporting cast includes Pandiarajan, Indumathi Manikandan, Vivek Prasanna, Black Pandi, Aditya Kathir, and more. The makers are planning to release the movie in 2026.
