As the biopic season in Films is just gaining momentum, many wondered if someone will portray Telugu Lady Olympic champion, Karanam Malliswari’s story on celluloid too. Malliswari decided to take up weightlifting as she found her potential at the young age. But she did not have funds to pursue her career at National and International level. She fought hard to find sponsors and finally won National Championship, for Indian Government to sponsor her further.
Even then she had to conquer the lack of proper equipment and good trainers to make it to International level. Once, she could qualify for Olympics, she believed in herself that she can win a medal for the Nation. She opened the gates of possibilities for women by winning Bronze at Olympics in Weightlifting, in 2000. Her story will be made into a movie by Sanjana Reddy and Kona Venkat, MVV Satyanarayana are producing it. Other details will be announced soon.
