On Tuesday, Abundantia Entertainment and Collective Media Network announced a new film on Lord Hanuman claiming it will be made entirely with Artificial Intelligence (AI).
The news immediately sparked debates in the Indian film industry with many filmmakers and artists worried that creativity without human touch will lose its soul.
Director Anurag Kashyap known for his outspoken views and films like Gangs of Wasseypur strongly criticized the decision.
On Instagram he accused production houses and artist agencies of ignoring the interests of real creators and focusing only on money. He wrote that artists with self-respect should question or leave such agencies as choosing AI over real talent is an insult to human creativity.
Filmmaker Vikramaditya Motwane, Kashyap’s close friend also reacted mocking the ‘Made in AI’ trend. Their sharp criticism highlights a growing fear that AI generated films may replace genuine storytelling deepening the divide between technology and human creativity in cinema.
