Mahesh Babu, the superstar in Telugu film industry, is facing significant copyright claims from writer Sharath Chandra. Chandra says that two of Mahesh’s big budget hit films, “Srimanthudu” and “Maharshi,” copied his stories scene for scene without his permission.
This has resulted in legal issues for both films’ directors, Koratala Siva and Vamshi Paidipally. In the case of “Srimanthudu,” Chandra alleges that the script closely resembles his story published in Swathi weekly called “Chachentha Prema.” A criminal case has already been filed against director Koratala Siva.
Now, Chandra is targeting “Maharshi,” claiming it too mirrors his work. He intends to pursue legal action once the verdict for the “Srimanthudu” case is delivered. This puts both directors in a tough position because they must defend against major charges of copyright violation. While Koratala Siva is already grappling with legal issues, Vamshi Paidipally may soon face similar problems.
