Suriya is facing a slump like never before and his films have been atleast putting up decent box office returns even though they have been marked as flops by trade, in Tamil Nadu but elsewhere, his films have become disasters. His market status in Telugu language and Kerala state is not at all encouraging, at this point of time. Even though he is still highly popular, his films seem to not rake in minimum guarantee moolah at the box office and hence, the Telugu and Malayalam dub release rights are not fetching as much as the team is expecting.
So, there are chances that Suriya will go for an OTT release and the film recently completed censor formalities too. Previously, he had to face ban from Tamil Distributor and Exhibitor unions for releasing his wife, Jyothika’s Ponmagal Vandhaal on OTT platforms directly. Will he take that risk with Soorarai Pottru/Aakasam Nee Haddu Ra? We don’t think so. The actor has spent more than 115 crores Budget on the film and OTT platforms may not yield that high amount for him to atleast touch breakeven. If any financial issues compel, we cannot deny the possibility too.
Sudha Kongara directed the film and it is a fictional story based on the life of G.K. Gopi Nath, who revolutionized Air travel in India with his airline service, Air Deccan. Mohan Babu acted in a crucial role in the film.
