Telugu Film Industry is usually known for its welcoming nature and paying heavy remunerations to the artists from foreign land. Even as viewers we are credited with having large hearts and accepting any and every actor who can satisfy us in some or the other way.For heroines, in our industry the majority of the roles will be written to showcase their glam quotient and whoever captures the imagination of the youngsters with their beauty are given more and more opportunities. So many actresses with no talent at all come to our industry and if they can manage few cute expressions on screen they become huge and rule the roost for two to three years solidly.
Only few from other ethnicity have been able to mix glamour with talent like Soundarya, Samantha and Nithya Menen. These actresses or even the generation before them like Meena, Ramyakrishnan, Radhika, Amala, Suhasini who hailed from different languages never ever complain about the sexism and harassment in Telugu Industry. Rather they always maintained that Telugu crew were most helpful and understanding than their own industries.
But lately, Malavika, Radhika Apte and now, Tapsee have complained about the sexism and harassment publically. Even Aarti Agarwal in one of her interviews complained about an actor trying to get more physical with her. It’s an open secret that casting couch exists in any film industry and many girls are being trapped into flesh selling business using the ‘compromise’ word and suggesting examples of famous heroines even participating in casting couch and then shooting into the lime light.
The major issue here is, why actresses are being more vocal when they have found success in other industries? What problem do we telugu industry who are normally known for being professional and helpful are facing these days? Are the outsiders who came with money bags trying to force themselves are them? Are our famous big names are crossing their limits? Or the actresses are just butt hurt with some people and maligning Telugu Industry? Truth can only be known once any of them come forward to clarify on the situation rather than just accusing in front of media.
