Five years after actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, his family has decided to challenge the CBI’s closure report which ruled his death as suicide and cleared Rhea Chakraborty of all charges. The family believes the investigation was incomplete and misleading.
According to the CBI’s March 2025 report there was no foul play or evidence that Rhea abetted Sushant’s suicide or mishandled his finances.
It stated that Sushant was alone at his Bandra home from June 8th to June 14th, 2020 and neither Rhea nor her brother Showik visited him then.
However the family’s lawyer, Varun Singh, called the report “an eyewash” claiming the CBI failed to include key evidence like chats, witness statements and medical data.
He confirmed they will file a protest petition. The case will be heard in a Patna court on December 20th where the family aims to reopen the investigation.
