Sajid Nadiadwala’s Sikandar, starring Salman Khan, faced a major setback due to digital piracy.
Reports say his production company, Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment, is considering an insurance claim of Rs. 91 crores for the losses caused.
A detailed audit by Ernst & Young found that pirated copies of the film leaked online just hours after, or even before, its theatrical release.
These versions found on platforms like Tamilrockers, Movierulz and Telegram, included scenes not shown in theaters, including raw edits and deleted sequences.
The leaked version seemed to have come after the film got censor approval, suggesting an insider may be responsible.
The piracy is said to have caused a big drop in box office revenue after a strong opening. While no official insurance claim has been filed yet, the internal discussions could lead to one of India’s biggest piracy-related claims.
The production house has not made any public comment yet.
