Also, the latest sex racket case in the United States of America also gave rise to much more discussion about how deep these harassment and prostitution issues have become common in the Industry. Many started talking about it and women activists have come out in open to ask for protective measures from these sexual predators. But the film Industry has been surviving for a long time and people does say that the harassment used to be more, even though subtle in previous years.
Yesteryear actress and three-time Urvasi Award winner, Sharada, commented about sexual harassment at workplace, that is, on the sets and off the sets. She confirmed that actresses used to face sexual harassment and assault at times. She said, “Men used to fear about their reputation and family lives. So, they used to have some respect towards certain women. Today, it is not the same. Men have become bolder and hence, we keep hearing such complaints more often.”
