Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati was a smash hit in Kannada and did well in Telugu as well. The Side B has been released today and let’s see how it is.

Story: The first part ends with Priya(Rukmini Vasanth) getting married and Manu(Rakshit Shetty) getting stuck in jail for ten years. Manu comes out of jail and starts looking for Priya. He finds her and sees her in a very distraught condition and decides to help her with any contact. How Manu changed Priya’s life and did they got back together is the crux of the film.

Performances: Rakshit Shetty is given a new dimension in this film and gets a great chance to emote in the sequel. His performance in the key emotional scenes is one of the highlights. Rukmini Vasanth does not have much to do in the film but her screen presence makes a lot of difference. The supporting cast played by Gopal is neat in his role. Chaitra Achar is great in her role as a sex worker and has a great screen presence.

Technical Aspects: When compared to the first part, the music in the sequel is quite dull. There are not many memorable songs and this is one of the drawbacks. The production values are decent and so is the artwork. The dialogues and Telugu dubbing were quite good. The editing is a tad dull as the film is dragged for no reason.

Analysis: Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati’s Side A ended in such a way that everyone wanted to see what Manu did after he came out of jail and how his love story would end. The sequel has pain that is showcased through the hero.

The manner in which the characters come to life is best in the sequel. One of the biggest drawbacks of the film is the slow pace. The film is quite slow in many areas and does not move.

The entire first half showcases the hero stalking his ex-girlfriend and trying to do good for her. After seeing the lead characters going through so much pain one expects that they will confront each other once but that does not happen at all.

There are a few scenes that give a TV serial kind of a feeling. The ending is also not up to the mark as the film ends on a very empty note and the pain is conveyed properly. The hero is in love with his girl and even having a physical relationship with a prostitute does not help well.

The second half is good when compared to the first part, Side B does not have much pain and emotions and feels suffocated in many ways.

Verdict: On the whole, Sapta Sagaralu Dhaati Side B starts on a good note but fizzes away in the middle. The emotions lack pain and the slow pace can get on to your nerves. It has proper justification but does not move as Side A did.

Bottom Line – Fails to live up to the hype
