A limited-budget film titled, Rebels of Thupakula Gudem starring Shrikant Rathod and Jaiyetri Makana as the lead pair under the direction of Jaideep Vishnu had a theatrical release on February 3rd. Opened to okayish reports, the film has scope to perform decently during the weekend.
Set in the 2009 time period in a rural area the film revolves around Naxalism in society. The film has been shot in natural forest locations and all the artists have their best. Newcomer Shrikant Rathod has a good screen presence. His acting and dialogue delivery is impressive. Camera fear is not seen in his face and portrayed in the given role confidently.
On the other hand, Jaiyetri Makana is cute on screen and gave a convincing performance in the purposeful role. Her on-screen chemistry with Shrikant is one of the major highlights of the film. Along with the lead pair, Praveen Kandela’s performance, and other artists such as Shivaram, Kranthi, Sharath, Vamsi, Vineeth, Vijay, Varanasi Kishore, Gnaneshwar, Maggi, and Raja Shekar did their part decently.
Meanwhile, the latest we hear is that the post-theatrical streaming rights of Thupakula Gudem are acquired by the reputed OTT platform Zee5. The film is likely to premiere on the digital platform by this month end.
