Rana Naidu, released on Netflix in 2023, made headlines more for its bold content than its story. Venkatesh’s family audience was upset, and many thought there wouldn’t be a Season 2. But surprisingly, Season 2 was released today (June 13). Let’s see how it is!

Rana Naidu Season 2 Story: Rana Naidu Season 2 picks up right where Season 1 ended. Rana (Rana Daggubati) wants a peaceful life with his wife and kids after escaping OB Mahajan’s control. But his world is shaken when his son gets kidnapped. As Rana fights to save him, he kills a few people, attracting the wrath of Rauf (Arjun Rampal), who then targets Rana. Naga (Venkatesh) re-enters the scene during this intense conflict. The season shows how Rana protects his family amid the chaos.

Performances: As always, Rana Daggubati stole the spotlight in Rana Naidu Season 2 with his powerful screen presence and personality. He seems to have taken the criticism of Season 1 seriously, as this time there are no intimate or bold scenes, not even a single kiss. His emotional scenes were also impressive. Venkatesh reduced his bold dialogues too, making this season more comfortable for family audiences.

However, compared to others, his character didn’t leave a strong impact. He tried to bring comedy like in F2, but it didn’t fully work. Arjun Rampal’s villain role had good hype but lacked depth, especially in the final episode. Surveen Chawla looked glamorous, but her betrayal had no proper reason. Kriti Kharbanda’s character also felt underwritten. The rest of the supporting cast was okay and maintained good continuity throughout the season.

Technical Aspects: The cinematography in Rana Naidu Season 2 is decent, but the set work feels fake in many scenes, you can clearly see it’s a background set. Surprisingly, a big platform like Netflix didn’t pay enough attention to this. The action scenes are dull, and due to poor color grading, even the blood looks unrealistic. These factors pull the series down.

Although the show is inspired by the American series Ray Donovan, it has been adapted to suit Indian sensibilities. Learning from the backlash of Season 1, the makers avoided unnecessary adult scenes and bold content in Season 2. Even the few bold words are mostly in Hindi, making it less uncomfortable for Telugu viewers. Also, the focus on emotional drama in this season worked well. Overall, while it doesn’t match the excitement of Season 1, Rana Naidu Season 2 manages to engage viewers to a fair extent.

Analysis: Rana Naidu Season 2 avoids bad language and adult scenes, thanks to Venkatesh and Rana’s care after Season 1 feedback. Though it has strong characters, a big setup, and family drama, weak screenplay and lack of emotional depth make it less engaging overall.

Verdict: Cleaner and more balanced than Season 1, Rana Naidu 2 tries to win back family audiences. Despite strong performances, it falls short due to uneven screenplay and missing emotional depth. Worth a watch for fans, but not a complete winner.

Bottom Line: Less vulgar, more drama, still uneven.

Rating: 2.5/5
