The much-anticipated biopic on cricket legend Sourav Ganguly is now official with talented actor Rajkummar Rao set to play the role of the iconic “Prince of Kolkata”.
After months of buzz, Rajkummar confirmed the news saying, “Now that Dada has announced it, I can say it too, yes, I’m playing him”.
Known for his powerful and realistic performances Rajkummar said the role comes with great responsibility but he’s excited for the challenge.
He added that he is already learning Bengali, thanks to his wife Patralekhaa who is Bengali and feels confident about getting the accent good.
Sourav Ganguly is thrilled with the casting and said “I think the right person is doing it. I’ll help him with everything”. The film will begin shooting in January 2026 and is planned for a grand release in December 2026.
Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and produced by Luv Films the film will trace Ganguly’s legendary cricket journey.
