Kabali is opening with huge anticipation. It’s probably the only Indian film which is set to have 445 premiere shows before the release! And we hear that the film is set to be a pakka mass ecperience and a paisa vasool sojourn for Rajinikanth fans! But guess what, if you aren’t a fan, you’ll still endu up liking it too just for the sheer brilliance of Rajini and his ability to be a star and steal the limelight irrespective of the story, and he does that yet again.
What do we expect a Rajinikanth film to have? Of course, he needs to be the superhuman, the demigod, a person who’s invincible. He has done something like that yet again, larger than life for sure but in a different way and style, completely a take away from what we’ve seen so far. We are taken into the Baasha mode, the Shivaji mode, the Lingaa mode, the Narasimha mode and a lot more!
Well, no wonder fans are excited before the release and of course will leave the hall with the same feeling post watching the film. Because all his trademark antics are going to make an appearance. Stylish walk of Rajini. Check. Cigar or goggles flick. Check. Punch dialogues. Check.
But for those who aren’t fans, the make believe “young” days of Rajini might seems like a turn off (He is said to be playing a 30 year old!). While Rajini is in his element, you apparently can’t help noticing how several scenes will remind you of Rajini over the years. Add to that is the fact that a lot of things are not placed properly, most importantly, the story.
Our sources tell us that the maker seems to have started off wanting to make an interesting story about the plight of Tamilians in Malaysia but ends up caricaturising them and makes it a stage to showcase what Rajini has been defined by all these years. We were all thinking Ps Ranjith would show a news side to the Rajinikanth. But guess what, he got carried away by the star’s stardom. It’s not that the movie isn’t good. But with this rare combination, there’s a lot more expected. Let’s wait for it to release!
