BVS Ravi, the writer-director of recently released movie, Jawaan starring Sai Dharam Tej, Mehreen Prizada and Prasanna talked to media about film piracy. He said, “I am thankful to each and every individual who watched our Jawaan, in theatres. I wrote this story over two years and spent 24 hrs with the actor to understand his body language after he accepted the story. With his insistence, I was able to find a producer and finally, made the film you’re watching. I am not worried about reviews as I did not consider them much but the biggest thing that is hurting our business is piracy.”
He continued, “I got messages from various sources that high quality prints of our film are played on buses and also, many are finding downloadable prints within few hours of release. This is killing our business and I am worried people are unable to understand the real threat behind all this. Every person and industry who work hours together get utmost respect but somehow, we film Industry, fail to gather good recognition or respect from society.
“Even we work hard as them, in fact we won’t even care about sleep while working. A producer works on 10 to 20% profits and they bring money from financiers by putting their future at risk. This is our bread and butter, please don’t abuse our hard work like this,”pleaded the director. The movie is running for 65 to 75% full crowds at the theatres and over the weekend it had a good run.
