We all need Oxygen to survive and also need it to be pure devoid of all the chemical wastage and spoils. But air pollution is at its peak stage due to many impurifucations and also, heavy addiction to cigarettes. With many people continuously burning tobacco in small quantities that over the time can cause exponential damage. The movie talks about physical damage caused by such vices to human beings.
Plot : Raghupathi ( Jagapathi Babu) is a great landlord and business tycoon. He operates from a village in Rajahmundry with his head office in Banglore. His elder brother and his family are killed by two highly trained people without any trace of evidence. To avoid any further loss in his family, he decides to get his daughter Shruthi (Raashi Khanna) married to someone from USA.
Krishna Prasad (Gopichand) arrives and his good nature impresses one and all. Shruthi doesn’t want to leave her family and village, so she tries to prove that he is a bad guy. But Krishna with his innocence and good nature impresses her too. But as she pleads him to stay with their family, he starts eliminating them one by one. Why he does so? Performances : Gopichand looks fresh but he lacks in the conviction that he possessed before. He tried his best to make sense of the plot and exute some charisma to make the proceedings look real and interesting. He doesn’t really have to do much rather than smile or scream. Director failed to use him well and the narration is also highly amateurish for such an actor’s film.
Anu Emmanuel looks completely plastic and her performance doesn’t really stand up to the depth of the scenes she is given. Raashi Khanna did her best in the movie and she seemed to be a clever choice as she gave a decent performance.
Jagapathi Babu is wasted in a role that could have been much better but ends up being a big paycheck for the actor rather than a good character. All others like Shyam, Brahmaji and others did their best to justify the money they took.
Technicalities : S.B Uddhav, editor of the film tried to keep the proceedings at a pace that lets you believe that the movie is going at a bearable speed. His cuts doesn’t help the narration and also, his concepts in few scenes didn’t really bring out the best possible output for the script.
Chota K. Naidu and Vetri worked as cinematographers for this movie. They tried their level best to give the movie a pleasant look. But the VFX shots and also, in few scenes the basics like framing and staging are also purely executed by both the veterans.
Yuvan Shankar Raja’s music is a rehash of his old tunes. They sound good while they last but we immediately forget them as someone erased them from our memory without a trace. Chinna gave the Back Ground score for the movie and he tried his best to create interest in the audience about the proceedings.
Writer and director, AM Jothi Krishna decided to make a movie with message rather than giving a message after deciding on his story. As a result, the movie looks more like an anti smoking ad than a coherent story with good screenplay. Even the main protagonist needed someone else to dub few of lines and shows how dedicated and motivated the entire team. Jothi Krishna seems to be happy living in good old 70’s and 80’s, but he should know that these are 2010’s.
Analysis : Commercial films these days have become more like rehashed formulaic tales of 70’s and 80’s rather than being unique in their own sense. Another such attempt by director Jothi Krishna to make a movie that will appeal to mass audience without having any knowledge on what he really needs to make a good mass film. Masala films are all about fun and good story telling as well. But in trying to make a fun movie that has a message he makes an incohesive and highly costly non-smoking ad.
