Prabhu Solomon known for hits like Mynaa, Kumki, and Kaadan, is back with Kumki 2. The film stars Arjun Das, along with newcomers Roshan and Mathi, who play younger and older versions of an important character.
Prabhu clarifies that Kumki 2 is not a traditional sequel. While the first Kumki focused on wild elephants entering human settlements, this film tells a completely new story about another kumki.
Unlike the first, it has no romance and is designed to appeal especially to children, with songs and emotional elements balanced for all audiences.
Arjun Das plays a mild antagonist, not a full villain, as characters in Prabhu’s films are shaped by circumstances rather than being purely good or bad.
Filming was challenging that involving trained elephants and real locations instead of CGI. The story explores the bond between a young boy and an elephant calf with scenes shot in Thailand and Kerala. Nivas K Prasanna composed the music, crafted over six months for an emotional impact.
