“Vaazhai,” which came out on August 23rd, was made on a small budget of Rs 5 crore but earned over Rs 40 crore at the Tamil Nadu box office.
The film, praised for its emotional impact, highlights the struggles of plantain workers and is inspired by Mari Selvaraj’s childhood.

At a recent event celebrating the success of “Vaazhai,” Director Mari Selvaraj announced the sequel. He explained that he made the original film to share his personal story and background.
If people still don’t fully understand his story, he plans to continue making films like “Vaazhai”. He hopes to start work on “Vaazhai 2” soon and will bring back actor Ponvel, who played Sivanaindhan.
Selvaraj also promised that the sequel will be even more powerful. He thanked the media for their role in promoting his film, music was composed by Santhosh Narayanan.
