Vetrimaaran was originally set to direct Vaadivaasal with Suriya a film based on the traditional sport Jallikattu.
However due to multiple delays the project has been temporarily shelved. In the meantime Vetrimaaran has announced a new film with Simbu tentatively titled STR49.
According to the latest reports Manikandan is in talks to play a key role in this film. Known for his smart script selections, this could be a major step forward in his career if confirmed.
The film is said to be set in the Vada Chennai universe and Manikandan’s character will reportedly serve as a link between STR49 and Vada Chennai.
Despite the connection Vetrimaaran clarified that the new film will not be titled Vada Chennai 2. He aims to complete this project very fast and then resume work on Vaadivaasal.
Everyone from the Tamil film industry are eagerly waiting for more updates.
