“Emergency,” which depicts events from the 1970s, has faced controversy since its release date was announced in September.
The film release was put on hold last month, and there had been no updates until recently. The production team are now considering releasing the film after the Punjab elections.
This film is a political power imposed by Indira Gandhi in the 1970s, which had a significant impact on Punjab. Due to this sensitive topic, some groups have raised objections to the film’s release.
To avoid controversy, the makers plan to wait until after the elections. The CBFC has also approved the film with a few edits.
A source confirmed that the team intends to release the movie once the election period in Punjab has passed, believing it will be a calmer time. Directed by Kangana Ranaut, who also plays Indira Gandhi was originally set to release on September 7th.
