Lucky Baskhar Movie Review & Rating.!

Lucky Baskhar has been promoted a lot in the last few days. Featuring Dulquer Salmaan and Meenakshi Chaudhary in lead roles, the con drama has been directed by Venky Atluri. The film has been released today and read our detailed review here at Filmyfocus.

Story: Baskhar (Dulquer Salmaan) is a happy-go-lucky bank employee who faces humiliation at work. One day, he decides to take a risk by stealing money from the bank and using it for a smuggling deal. As he profits, he sets his sights higher, investing in the stock market and becoming immensely wealthy. However, things take a turn for the worse when a CBI inquiry is launched against him. How Baskhar escapes this scandal and what happens to his family form the story of the film.

Performances: Dulquer Salmaan is a star and whatever he does looks good on screen. He plays a con man with a white-collar job and means business in the film. His body language or the way he showcases heroic moments without going overboard is the best part. He has been showcased superbly by the director Venky Atluri. Meenakshi Chaudhary plays the female lead and she is sensible in her role. Ramki gets a brief role and Sachin Khedekar was impressive. The rest of the cast did their jobs well but it is Dulquer who steals the show.

Technical Aspects: The production design needs an award or so as the sets laid are stunning. The artwork, bank sets, and the lives of Mumbai’s middle-class setup are showcased superbly. The camerawork is also amazing bringing a realistic feel to the film. Venky Atluri’s writing is crisp and does not have scope for error. The editing is neat and so are the dialogues. The pacing is a bit slow in the second half. The twists have been executed well.

Analysis: Venky Atluri, who made the social drama Sir with Dhanush is back with a thriller titled Lucky Baskhar. He has picked up a crime thriller and breathes fire into it. How he narrated the film with equal doses of thrill and emotions is the best part of Lucky Baskhar. The film engages you right away and takes you into the world of Baskhar in a cinematic manner.

Baskhar’s bank life, family issues with money, and how he finds redemption in cheating the bank are showcased in a lovely manner. The first half of Lucky Baskhar is riveting and has so many heroic moments that will be loved by one and all. How Baskhar commits the crime has been showcased in a very engaging manner.

The second half is also very good but the pace dips a bit. But the pre-climax and climax make up for it and end the film on a high. Director Venky Atluri once again proves that he is here to stay and can make films in different genres.

One of the biggest assets of the film is Dulquer Salmaan. His charm and screen presence make us fall in love with him from the first scene itself. Lucky Baskhar is a rare film that has drama, emotions, and thrills in equal doses. Upon this, the backdrop is new for the Telugu audience and makes up for an entertaining watch at the box office.

Verdict: Overall, Lucky Baskhar has a great premise, a great narrative, and a solid performance by Dulquer Salmaan. Though it gets slow here and there, but the thrills unleashed at regular intervals make this film a good watch.
