The Oscars, considered the top honor in world cinema have officially invited Indian film icon Kamal Haasan to join their voting committee.
This recognition marks a proud and important moment in his 60 year career and highlights his global influence in cinema. According to reports, Kamal will now be part of the team that selects and votes for films at the Academy Awards.
Only a few Indians, like A.R. Rahman, Resul Pookutty, MM Keeravani, and SS Rajamouli, have previously had this honor.
Though Kamal Haasan has submitted seven films to the Oscars in the past none were shortlisted. His invitation now stands as a tribute to his deep understanding and dedication to cinema.
In 2022 actor Suriya received a similar invitation. With Kamal now joining, it brings even more pride to Indian cinema.
He is one of 534 new members invited from around the world, helping shape the future of the Oscars through their votes.
