Priyamani recently spoke about pay inequality in Indian cinema. She admitted that she has often been paid less than her male co-stars but said she no longer feels upset about it.
“Yes I’ve been paid less, but I know my value. I only charge what I deserve”, she said.
The National Award-winning actress explained that pay depends on market demand and that her view comes from personal experience not complaint.
She also highlighted a difference in work culture saying South Indian shoots start on time while Bollywood often begins late.
Known for films like Yamadonga and Ragada, Priyamani will next appear in Jana Nayagan and The Family Man Season 3 premiering on November 21st on Amazon Prime Video.
