Venkatesh is known for attempting family oriented films and different subjects that have become hit in one language. He is next to senior NTR, in doing make remakes and there were times when Venkatesh announced a film, audience thought it should be a remake of some film from Tamil or Malayalam. It is no wrong to attempt something that was accepted by a group of audience with sensibilities and changing them to our own Telugu sensibilities and presenting them in a new way. This way new stories and characters would come to our language as well, but few think of it as just copying from a talented first ranker by a moderately active kid in the hope of repeating the same result.
While many remakes have turned out to be bad or exactly replicate the original, few of them excelled over the original and provided wholesome solution to the problems in the originals and tightened them up further. There are stories that became huge blockbusters in Telugu that are actually remakes of lesser hit films in the original language. Venkatesh had been lucky in that aspect and faced huge disappointments as well. After remaking Drishyam, Oh my God successfully he is now being a part of Saala Khadoos remake, as a Boxing ‘Guru’. The movie is directed by Sudha Kongara, the original writer – Director, who wished to make the movie in Telugu first.
The movie became a comeback for Madhavan after hiatus and he is doubly charged up with its success in Tamil, as Irudhi Suttru. The release of the film has been in for quite number of speculations and even movie team has been considering various dates, from releasing the film in December to slotting it in the packed Sankranthi season. But now with the film shooting entering into the last leg, the makers are looking the 26th January, Republic Day, weekend for the release it seems. As the makers do not want to clash with Mega releases in Sankranthi and are also quite convinced that the theme of the movie will better suit for a Republic Day release.
