Demonte Colony 2 Movie Review & Rating!

Demonte Colony was a smash hit in Tamil and won the hearts of many. The sequel was also a hit and was released recently in Tamil. Well, the makers have dubbed the film in Telugu and released it in Telugu states today August 23, 2024. Let’s review the film here.

Story : The Demonte Colony film series centers on a cursed necklace that always returns to a haunted bungalow, no matter who takes it. Debbie (Priya Bhavani Shankar) is determined to uncover the truth behind her lover Sam’s (Sarjano Khalid) mysterious suicide. With the help of Tsering Dorjee, she contacts Sam’s spirit and discovers a shocking connection between him and his estranged twin brothers. As Debbie investigates further, she learns about a deadly curse that recurs every six years. To save herself, she must find a way to break it. How did she it is the story of the film.

Performances : Priya Bhavani Shankar gets a solid role and she shines in it. Priya was trolled brutally for her silly act in Indian 2 but here in this sequel, she means business and holds your attention till the end with her impressive performance. Arulnithi shines in her dual role and brings a lot of depth to the film. Her character has been elevated quite well by the director Ajay. The rest of the cast did their jobs well.

Technical Aspects : Sam CS‘s score is a highlight, effectively enhancing the film’s tension and excitement. Kumaresh D’s editing is clean, and the production values add to the film’s authenticity. Hareesh Kannan’s cinematography is solid, though a bit more polish could have elevated the visuals. However, more refined CGI could have improved the overall visual experience. The Telugu dubbing is also well done, making it feel like a native film. The screenplay of the film is penned by Ajay himself and he neatly links the two parts and how it is done, bringing a lot to the plate.

Analysis : Demonte Colony was a smash hit. So, naturally, the excitement for the second part was high. Director Ajay Gananmuthu has directed the film and how he has established the connection between the two parts is quite impressive. The twists showcased are impressive and hold your attention till the end.

Also, how a connection is left for the third part is just amazing. Having said all this, the visual effects, though functional, don’t quite achieve a fully immersive horror experience. Better execution in this area could have greatly enhanced the film’s eerie atmosphere. The film makes convenient choices, introducing characters and subplots at random, to the point where the story becomes difficult to follow.

But the director Ajay adds so many thrills at regular intervals that the audience tends to forget all these errors and just goes with the flow of the film. Some engaging thrills have been executed well. Even though there are scenes that look silly, all of that is covered by a very clear screenplay that holds your attention.

Once you get immersed in the basic plot and backdrop of the film, the sequel arrests you with its engaging narration. The Telugu audience who are used to watching horror comedy will find this film a new experience. As there are not so many popular faces, you might take time to reach the theaters, but once you do, the film entertains you.

Verdict : Overall. Demonte Colony 2 is a well-made thriller that holds your attention. The thrills, twists, and drama are narrated engagingly and make for a decent watch this weekend. Go in without any expectations and you will enjoy the film.
