Vennela Kishore has headlined a film titled Chaari 111. The film stars Murali Sharma and Satya in key roles and has been directed by Keerthi Kumar. The spy thriller has been released today and let’s review it here.

Chaari 111 Story: The CM(Subhaleka Sudhakar) of Andhra Pradesh asks Major Prasad Rao(Murali Sharma) to form a covert organization that operates outside conventional rules. When a bomb blast rocks Hyderabad, causing widespread alarm, Prasad Rao enlists his secret agent, Chaari (Vennela Kishore), to apprehend the terrorist responsible. The events that follow are the crux of Chaari 111.

Performances: Vennela Kishore is a lauh riot in the film. Right from the first scene, he means business and is hilarious in the film. The way he speaks those English lines or the body language he showcases, Kishore is amazing in the film. The tongue-in-cheek humor is superb in the first half thanks to Kishore’s performance. Murali Sharma is also no less in the film and delivers what he is expected of. Comedian Satya also gets a good role and he ably supports Kishore. Samyuktha, the female lead was also okay.

Technical Aspects: Simon K King’s lively background score and Kashish Grover’s visuals enhance the movie’s appeal. The art direction team impresses with their design of the Rudranetra set, contributing to the film’s aesthetic. Overall, the production values are commendable. However, some scenes in the second half could have been trimmed for a smoother narrative flow. The production design is neat and the dialogues are hilarious especially those written for Vennela Kishore.

Analysis: There is no denying the fact that Chaari 111 has a hilarious first half filled with comedy. However, as the movie transitions to a more serious tone in the second half, it loses its charm, becoming dull. Perhaps, the filmmakers should have maintained the lighthearted approach throughout the film. This would have given the film a solid push with the audience who enjoy logicless humor.

The second half fails to engage primarily due to the absence of entertainment. Suddenly emphasizing the sacrifices of Indian soldiers feels out of place, especially considering the first half’s comedic tone, making it difficult for viewers to connect with the emotion. While the decision to portray the flashback in animated form is unique, it doesn’t add much value to the film.

Additionally, the comedy showcased is over the top. So, only a few can enjoy such humor in the film. Chaari 111 had so much scope to be a hilarious spy thriller. But how the director brings in the flashback and makes the film boring is the biggest drawback of the film. One gets a feeling that the same silly comedy would have been a world of good to watch but that does not happen sadly.

Verdict: Overall, Chaari 111 is a half-baked spy drama. While the first half is hilarious, the second half is pale. Vennela Kishore is superb and if you like his style of comedy, give the film a shot and the rest can watch the film when it is on OTT.

Bottom Line – A wasted opportunity
