Bhagavanth Kesari is one of the most awaited films in recent times as Balakrishna has teamed up with Anil Ravipudi for the first in his career. Well, the film has been released today, and let’s review it here.
Story: Bhagavanth Kesari(Balakrishna) is the guardian of Vijji(Sreeleela) right from her childhood and always forces her to join the army. On the other hand, Rahul Sanghvi is a rich businessman who is involved in illegal activities in his business. He gets involved in a tiff with Vijji and things go wrong. But why did Vijji get into a tussle with Rahul Sanghvi? Is there a flashback for all this? To know all this one needs to watch Bhagavanth Kesari.
Performances: Balakrishna plays a mature role in the film and he is very good. For the first time in his career, he played a role where he did not go overboard and played his age. His dialogue delivery is classy and each word is emotion-filled and right from the heart. Sreeleela is also seen in a new avatar in this film and she gives her best performance in the film. She gets an emotional role and Sreeleela’s chemistry with Balayya is amazing in the first half. Arjun Rampal makes his Telugu debut with this film and he is apt in his role. Kajal plays the role of a psychologist and she is decent and does not have a lengthy role.
Technical Aspects: Thaman has composed the music and he is impressive. Though his songs are just about okay, his BGM is solid and elevates the film in a superb way. The production values of the film are also amazing as the makers did not compromise on the budget. Dialogues are amazing but the editing in the first half could have been better. The camera work is solid and the fights are also engaging. Story-wise, there is nothing new that the film showcases.
Analysis: Anil Ravipudi has teamed up with Balakrishna for the first time in his career and has showcased him like never before. True to the saying, Balayya is seen in a completely new avatar. This is the USP of the film. The first half of the film is mostly dominated by scenes featuring Balakrishna and Sreeleela.
The manner in which Balayya has trained her is showcased. To make things saleable, the director brings in the character of Kajal. All the scenes between Kajal and Balayya are boring and do not create anything new. But things start working from the last half an hour in the first half.
The moment Balayya gets into a mass role, the film turns on its head and there is no looking back from there. Though the story is quite routine, the emotional bonding between characters is pretty decent. Most of the film runs on this part and then things make sense.
If the screenplay would have been even more gripping, the output would have been even better. Anil Ravipudi has showcased Balayya like never before but the presentation is a bit old school. If you are okay with this, Bhagavanth Kesari is a perfect festive watch for this Dussehra.
Verdict: On the whole, Bhagavanth Kesari is an action drama that showcases Balakrishna in a new avatar. Sreeleela and action blocks are also amazing. Though the storyline is old school, Anil Ravipudi narrates the film in an entertaining manner.
