Athade Srimanarayana

Athade Srimanarayana is a film that the Telugu press has been promoting a lot. The film is out now and read on to see how the film turns out to be.

Story: The film is all about a treasure which has been hidden by a group of local artists. A king and his sons are after it and years pass by but they cannot find it. Then enters a cop after fifteen long years. Played by Rakshit Shetty, he promises the king that he will find the treasure. Who is this cop and what he has to do with the treasure forms the rest of the story?

Performances: Rakshit Shetty is the only saving grace of the film which is filled with heavy-duty Kannada stars. He does well as a cop and brings a comic angle also in the film. He along with his constable does well in the film and brings a new elegance to some scenes. It was tough to see Shanvi in a very dramatic role but she does well in her part and was very good. Hope that she gets such a role in the future as well.

Analysis: The run-time might seem a tad bit long. It is probably not best to expect authenticity seeing as how the film is set. However, the story is like an intriguing jigsaw puzzle with the protagonist ensuring you are constantly glued to the screen. The film hints at some of the cinematic greats from the West, especially Quentin Tarantino who excels at the genre.

But what spoils the whole film is the narration. To see Rakshit Shetty on screen is a superb enjoyment for the Kannada fans but it is not that for the Telugu fans who want entertainment time and again. The film promises excitement and whenever the film reaches that mode it is made in a brutal manner ending as a big bore for the audience. The length of the film is over three hours and his where the film also goes for a toss as you feel sleep through the runtime of the film.

Rating: 2.5/5
