The Andhra Pradesh exhibition industry hasn’t been in the best position for the last few months after the AP government announced that tickets would have to be sold at prices fixed by the government and that they would have to be bought online through a portal run by the government. The AP government also announced that no permissions for any extra, special or benefit shows would be given as well.

In the wake of the increasing number of Omicron and Covid cases in the country, and in the state, the AP government recently announced night curfews, from 11 PM to 5 AM, in the state, and a 50% occupancy in theatres. As this is the Sankranthi season, the government has made an exception, and lifted the night curfew till the 18th of this month, while the 50% occupancy clause remains to be effective.

With at least the night curfew being relaxed, it’s a breather for the theatres in the state, which can profit during the Sankranthi season. A few films are lined up for release this season, including Bangarraju, Rowdy Boys and Hero, among other, lesser-known films.
