For over two and a half years, the house of the Kollywood actor Suriya has been hospitalized under police protection though he isn’t residing there. This has raised the question and argument about why such a practice remains in this regard.
In 2021, ‘Jai Bhim’ directed by TJ Gnanavel along with Suriya and Jyothika’s debut on Amazon Prime saw a positive reception by all. On the other hand, the film was criticized by the Rudra Vanniyar Sena faction who feels that it is degrading to their community, especially the Irular community who were portrayed impiously.
The activist sought an open apology from actor Suriya, as well as a payment of Rs. 5 crores. They had no inhibitions. They promised a cash reward for anyone who beat the actor. Thus, Tamil Nadu’s government provided him with permanent security cordons surrounding his residence in T Nagar, Chennai.
Yet, despite the being of the absence of the Suriya, the four policemen keep guarding his house. This has let to a key point of contention from the likes of social rights activist Krishna Murthy, who blame the responsible lacking of the government in the state. Thus, the ongoing police going to Suriya’s empty house has now become a focus of interest, which makes people think that the government bothers more about saving money instead of stopping these horrible incidents.
