Ugly Story Movie Review & Rating!

Nandu has been trying different kinds of roles throughout his career, acting in both supporting and lead roles. Though he acted in many films as a hero, he is still waiting for a big success. Now, he has come up with Ugly Story. Let’s see if this film gives him the breakthrough he needs.

Ugly Story Story: Neha (Avika Gor), who loses her parents at a young age, is raised by her grandmother and later falls in love with her childhood friend Gautham. After her grandmother’s death, Neha’s uncle Narayana Rao takes care of her.

His son Karthik (Nandu), who becomes mentally unstable after losing his mother, gets deeply attached to Neha. Hoping she can change him, Narayana Rao decides to marry Neha to Karthik. To save her uncle’s life, Neha sacrifices her love and agrees to the marriage. But after marriage, Karthik turns violent and tortures her badly. The rest of the story is about Neha’s struggle to escape him.

Performances: Nandu gives a strong performance as a mentally disturbed person, and the role offers him good scope to showcase his acting skills. Avika Gor performs sincerely as a helpless housewife and acts boldly in emotional and intimate scenes. Ravi Teja Mahadasyam’s role feels like an extended cameo. Shivaji Raja adds depth to the father’s role with his solid performance. The rest of the cast deliver decent performances in their respective roles.

Technical Aspects: Director Pranav Swarup’s story in Ugly Story does not feel very fresh. This movie lacks strong emotional depth and impactful twists. Several bold and disturbing scenes may make viewers uncomfortable, while many situations also feel unrealistic.

The narration moves slowly and stays flat for most of the runtime, with even the climax failing to create much thrill. Technically, Shravan Bharadwaj’s background score is the biggest plus and lifts many scenes. The songs are weak, cinematography is decent, and the production values look average overall.

Analysis: Ugly Story fails to match the intensity promised by its title. With a flat narration and weak climax, the film ends up as a disappointing attempt and may work better as an OTT watch than a theatrical experience.

Verdict: Despite a few good performances, Ugly Story ends up as a dull and disappointing film with weak narration and limited impact.

Bottom Line: Strong concept, weak execution.
